Doug Massey

Director of Product Safety

Since 2002, Doug has been spearheading the entire product safety department at ACS into one of the world’s leading players. Thanks to him, ACS is one of only a handful of third-party laboratories recognized by Underwriters Laboratories to test Information Technology Equipment, and enjoys a solid relationship with European giant TUV-SUD, among others.

Doug brings decades of invaluable experiential knowledge to the team. Right after earning his two associate degrees in electrical engineering technology and business management, he leapt into highly technical jobs at Rockwell International and LXE, Inc., where he rose up the ranks of regulatory safety positions. Today, he’s a member of the elusive UL 60950-1 Standards Technical Panel, and can call himself one of the country’s first product safety engineers to have earned his NARTE certification.

Of course, at ACS, Doug is more than just a Product Safety Director. He’s an affable friend, and would consider himself an avid canoeist, fisherman and reader—if only he had more time to pursue his hobbies, he jokes.

Doug believes that there is nothing wrong with being somewhat passionate about the work that you do, even if it’s not a “glamorous” profession. He says that when leaders are passionate about their endeavors, it’s infectious among the team in a great way. After all, he says, the difference between mediocrity and accomplishment is enthusiasm.
